VRML (Virtual Reality Modeling Language) has the potential to be the future display language for 3-D images on the web. Chemistry is a topic seen as being particularly apt for display by VRML. Chemical and Engineering News recently featured an article on VRML and other WWW developments in chemistry. The technology is still in the early stages of development, but the basic ideas is that one may imbed 3-D objects into a VRML document is a maner to allow various standard manipulations of the object in real time. In order to make VRML documents work, one needs a VRML browser. So, we will not comment further except to point you to some interesting sites. We will post new developments and examples as we become aware of them.
