PHOTOCLEAVAGE OF A BAPA TO GIVE A RADICAL PAIR
The zero-field splitting parameters are shown from
the putative radical pair derived by blasting the BAPA precursor into two
radical fragments that are held in place by the surrounding crystal lattice.
As a result, the radical fragments have a well-defined relative positioning
that can be probed by ESR spectroscopy.
