Being a chemist means looking at the
world and solving problems at the molecular level. For example,
destruction of stratospheric ozone is comprehensible only when
the chemistry behind it is understood, and remediation must be
based on this same chemical understanding. You will study all of
the main subfields of chemistry. Your degree will prepare you to
make a career in industry or to proceed to post graduate study
in chemistry, business, law etc. Many of the important questions
in modern chemistry arise at the interfaces between chemistry and
fields like biochemistry, pharmacology, microbiology, materials
science, polymers, earth sciences, and environmental science. Thus,
work or further study in these fields will also be open to you.
