Principal Research Interests

Director of Organic and Inorganic Laboratory Instruction, I have also been a Lecturer in Chemistry at UMass since 1993. Co-investigator on awards granted to introduce molecular modeling into the organic laboratory curriculum (www.chem.umass.edu/~samal/ili/orgili.html) and on a National Science Foundation award to develop Online Web-based Learning (OWL) for organic chemistry.

My interests also include introducing microscale techniques and green chemistry into the organic laboratory curriculum.
