Michael Barnes "Nantenna" Work
Gains National Tech Press at APS Meeting
The May 2005 issue of APS News (Volume
15, number 5) featured news from the March 2005 APS meeting held
in Los Angeles. Prof. Mike Barnes' work on nanosized "antennae" ("nantennae")
was featured prominently in the article, which describe futuristic
research on quantum dots and related quantum level electronic and
photonic phenomena. The article notes that work such as Mike's
has potential applications for quantum-level computing and networks.
For more about work in the Barnes group,
see a fall 2004 article in UMass Magazine, "The
Future of Small".
